Product Engineer
Sameh Khan
Design-focused engineer with experience in vehicle and aerospace development. I've led an FSAE team at international competitions, and am currently developing electric vehicle performance targets at Rivian Automotive! I have a deep passion for human-centric products, and am always looking for opportunities to contribute to the customer experience through great design.
To complement engineering, I have past experience in UX/UI product design techniques, and am proficient with various coding languages. Additionally, I have completed two 5-week immersion programs in Quebec to develop my French.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Attribute Engineer - Water Management
Rivian Automotive
2021 - Present
• Led water management design analysis, integration and testing across all vehicle programs (R1T, R1S, Amazon, Future Concepts)
• Integral in delivering the off-road and water fording capabilities of the R1T, the world’s first electric pickup truck
• Established high-level Attribute delivery timeline and DVP/R for vehicle water management. Developed organisational structures and workflows in Jama and JIRA for improved attribute tracking
• Defined User Stories and developed objective vehicle targets with cross-functional stakeholders. Worked intimately with Studio, CAE, Battery ESS, Manufacturing Quality and Body Sealing to integrate water-based safety, corrosion and soiling concepts
• Designed and built water fording and leak testing facilities at Rivian. Performed all water testing related to prototype vehicles
Aerodynamicist I, II
Rivian Automotive
2019 - 2021
• Developed vehicle performance in a variety of unique domains, including exterior aerodynamics, aeroacoustics, thermal performance and occupant comfort (OpenFOAM, STAR-CCM+)
• Pioneered use of PreonLab (SPH solver) within Rivian’s simulation capabilities. Managed High-Performance-Computing (HPC) benchmarking and developed the Rivian Methodology Standard for water management simulation
• Released HPC and simulation methodology improvements and scripts, continuously accelerating analysis turnaround.
• Conducted aero, thermal, soiling and icing testing at full-scale & scaled wind tunnels (Windshear, ARC, ACE) as well as at various proving grounds (TAPG, FAPG, NATC, TRC)
Lecturer’s Assistant
Richard Ivey School of Business
2018 - 2019
• Proctored exams of over 60 students. Marked exams and reports to a moderated rubric, and provided student feedback
Undergraduate Researcher - Haemodynamics
Fac. Medical Biophysics, Western University
2017 - 2019
• Assisted with the development of a blood flow regulation model (developed using MATLAB), allowing for more accurate prediction of oxygen distribution in the surrounding tissue
Special Projects Engineering Intern
Diamond Aircraft Industries Canada
2016 - 2017
• As a member of a UAV design team, curated mass properties database to supplement CG calculations, and pushed proposed weight savings at weekly meetings
• Worked closely with design engineers to track aircraft weights, resulting in more accurate mass prediction for composite parts
• Deployed CATIA scripts to accelerate engineering workflow, simultaneously improving data integrity in customer deliverables
• Designed and tested a new drawing tracking system leading to reduced data error in reporting metrics and better coordination between departments
Website & Graphics Designer
Freelance
2010 - 2014
• Delivered multiple full-build commissions for front-end, templates and web asset design
• Extensive use of Adobe Creative Suite, with focus on User Interface design
